Introduction to Single Sign-On (SSO)
How SSO works in Atlas
Benefits of using SSO in Atlas
Single Sign-On (SSO) allows users to access Atlas using their existing corporate credentials instead of a separate Atlas-specific username and password. Atlas supports logging in with your normal corporate credentials through your organisation’s identity provider (IdP), such as Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, or Google Workspace.
When SSO is enabled for your organisation and your Atlas user is linked to your company email/identity, the login flow is as follows (web and mobile):
You open Atlas (web browser or mobile app) and enter your work email address on the login screen.
If your organisation does not enforce SSO, you may see multiple options and can choose "Continue with Single Sign On (SSO)".
If SSO is enforced, or once you choose the SSO option, you are redirected to your organisation’s IdP login page.
You sign in using your usual company credentials (email/username and password).
You complete any multi-factor authentication (MFA) steps that your organisation requires.
After successful authentication, you are redirected back to Atlas and are logged in automatically.
If you are already signed in to your company account in the same browser, when you choose the SSO option you may be logged into Atlas automatically without needing to re-enter your password.
Consistent company login experience
With SSO, Atlas uses the same corporate sign-in process as your other internal systems. Users log in with their normal company credentials on the familiar IdP login page, creating a consistent sign-in experience across tools.
Use of existing security controls
Atlas relies on your organisation’s identity provider to verify user identity. As part of the SSO login, users follow the same security steps that are already configured on the IdP, such as entering their regular company password and completing any MFA challenges (for example, SMS/text codes or authenticator app prompts).
Automatic sign-in when already authenticated
If a user is already signed in to their company account in the same browser session, selecting the SSO option can log them into Atlas automatically, without needing to repeat their credentials. This reduces the number of manual steps needed to access Atlas.
Included as a standard feature on eligible products
For eligible Atlas product sets, SSO is included as a standard feature rather than a separate add-on. For new clients on those products, the expectation is that SSO is configured or provisioned by default during setup.
